I was going to make a long post here about the awesomeness that was the Dragoncon weekend, but since I already did just that in my personal journal, I figured I’d best just cross-link. There’s less gaming talk and more awesome talk there.

Check out the post in my personal blog.

Thanks again to The Zombie Squad and Ghoultown. Pics and videos are on their way, I promise!

I’m trying to gather images and reviews of and from our previous Dragoncon LARPs, as well as our various satellite and sister games. If you have any, or links to them, please comment and let me know.

Posted by “Wes” as a comment on this Article about another LARP:

“My first LARP was at DragonCon in 2004. There was a game called “Streetwise” that was all about “Urban Economics.” The characters came in five types: Dealers, Pimps, Hos, Cops, and Street Preachers. All of the characters were addicted to some “vice” - sex, pastries, or drugs. I picked a cop, and rolled for my addiction–fittingly, it was pastries. All vices, weapons, and cash were represented by paper cards, and combat was resolved through a game of “pencil break,” where your weapon determined how many strikes you got at the other guy’s pencil. Over the course of the day, I became increasingly corrupt, making underhanded, back-alley deals and letting the others off the hook for their illegal possessions and activities in return for protection - I was the only cop for most of the game, and when I got a deputy, he ended up shot dead. I made sure to keep on the preachers’ good sides. I had a great time.”

    • Groovy: “…I think that the problem is mostly one of perception shared by a minority on both sides.”...
    • Groovy: Jake, I believe you’re probably right on that last part. My perspective is that of someone who dabbles...
    • Jake Richmond: I’m starting to argue just because I like arguing. I think our difference in opinion is a matter...
